The Lekki Beach-Hopping Route: 4 Beaches in One Day

Beach 1 and 2: Oniru and Elegushi

9am at Oniru Private Beach. Gate is 3,000 naira. This one is calmer, cleaner and better for a swim. Rent an umbrella for 5,000, stay 90 minutes. 11am: drive 10 minutes to Elegushi Beach in Phase 1. Elegushi is loud, crowded and full-service: horse rides, jet skis, DJs, suya vendors. Not a swim beach but a scene beach.

Lunch at Elegushi: grilled catfish, jollof, palm wine. Expect to pay 8,000 to 15,000 for two. Leave by 1:30pm before the afternoon crowd peaks.

Beach 3 and 4: Landmark and Eleko

2pm: Landmark Beach on Water Corporation Road. This is the polished, family-friendly option with proper loungers, a boardwalk, ice cream and shopping. Entry 5,000 to 7,500 depending on the day. Stay 2 hours.

4pm: drive 40 minutes east to Eleko Beach in Ibeju-Lekki. This is the wild one: no music, no cabanas, just fishermen, palm trees and a long open stretch of sand. Grilled fish under a thatched shack for 3,000, palm wine for 500 a calabash. Watch sunset here at 6:30pm.

Sleep at the end

Two choices. Drive 45 minutes back to Phase 1 and sleep at a Phase 1 hotel: sensible if you’re flying out Sunday. Or, sleep in Ibeju-Lekki at La Campagne Tropicana or Inagbe Grand Beach Resort and stretch the trip into a proper beach weekend.

Ibeju sleep is better if you want to keep hearing the ocean. Phase 1 sleep is better if you want a real dinner afterwards; the Ibeju resorts have restaurants but limited options after 9pm.
